Our Story

Where craft meets
the way you live.

Founded with intention

A home should feel like
a love letter to yourself.

Artisan & Blooms was born in 2003 from a simple belief: that the spaces we live in should be as carefully crafted as the lives we build within them. We started small — a market stall in Savannah, Georgia, a handpicked collection of hand-restored furniture and locally foraged botanicals, and an obsession with the quiet poetry of Modern Cottage Farmhouse living.

Today, we curate hundreds of pieces across our Modern Cottage Farmhouse and Mediterranean collections, each selected for its craftsmanship, its character, and its ability to make a house feel deeply, unmistakably like home.

We are not a big-box retailer. We are a family-run studio with a small, devoted team and an enduring commitment to quality over volume.

Twenty years in the making

Our journey

2003

Where it all began

Claire Montrose opens a small antique and home décor stall at the Savannah Saturday Market, selling hand-restored furniture and locally foraged botanicals. The name "Artisan & Blooms" is born on a handwritten chalkboard sign.

2006

First brick-and-mortar studio

We open our first permanent studio on Whitaker Street in Savannah's historic district — 800 square feet of carefully curated furniture, textiles, and seasonal décor. Locals quickly make it a Saturday ritual.

2009

James joins the company

Claire's husband James, a supply chain specialist, leaves his corporate career to join the business full-time. He begins building direct relationships with artisan makers across the Carolinas, Tennessee, and New Mexico.

2012

Mediterranean collection launches

Inspired by a sourcing trip to Portugal and Morocco, we introduce our Mediterranean collection — warm plaster tones, hand-thrown ceramics, and linen upholstery in sun-bleached palettes. It sells out within three months.

2015

Second location opens

We open a second studio in Charleston, South Carolina, welcoming a new community of design-forward homeowners into the Artisan & Blooms family. The Farmhouse Sofa Collection debuts as our flagship offering.

2018

950,000 Facebook followers

Our community explodes online. A single post showcasing a customer's living room transformation goes viral, bringing nearly a million people to our Facebook page and forever cementing our reputation for real, livable beauty.

2020

Navigating the unexpected

When the world paused, our community leaned into their homes. We pivoted to virtual design consultations and curbside pickup, and our waitlists — for the first time — stretched to weeks. People wanted their homes to feel like sanctuaries.

Milestone
2023

We go fully online

After twenty years of brick-and-mortar, we make the leap to a fully online studio — bringing Artisan & Blooms to every home in the country. Our Shopify store launches with 500+ pieces and ships free to all 50 states from day one.

2024

12,000+ homes and growing

We cross 12,000 customer homes styled across the country — from coastal cottages in Maine to sun-drenched ranches in Arizona. Our Outdoor Collection becomes our fastest-growing category, loved for its indoor warmth brought outside.

Today
2026

Still just getting started

More than two decades after a chalkboard sign at a Saturday market, we are still guided by the same belief: that a beautifully made home changes the way you feel about your life. We are grateful for every single customer who has trusted us with theirs.

The people behind the pieces

Meet our founders

Claire Montrose, Co-Founder

Claire Montrose

Co-Founder & Creative Director

Claire grew up in the Carolinas watching her grandmother transform salvaged wood and yard-sale ceramics into spaces of breathtaking warmth. After studying interior architecture at SCAD and spending a decade styling homes across the Southeast, she founded Artisan & Blooms to make that warmth accessible to every household — not just the ones with design budgets.

"I believe every room should have at least one thing in it that makes you feel something."

James Montrose, Co-Founder

James Montrose

Co-Founder & CEO

James came to furniture the long way — through a career in supply chain management and a passion for understanding where things are made and why it matters. It was that curiosity that drew him into artisan craftsmanship and ultimately into partnership with Claire, his wife of sixteen years, to build something they both believed in from the ground up.

"We built this company around one question: would we put this in our own home?"

What guides us

Our commitments to you

Thoughtful Curation

We never add to our catalog simply for volume. Every piece earns its place through quality, character, and the feeling it creates in a room. If we wouldn't put it in our own home, we won't put it in yours.

Built to Last

We believe the best furniture is the kind you pass down. We partner only with makers who share our insistence on solid construction, natural materials, and heirloom-quality finishes that improve with age.

Transparent Sourcing

We know where every piece comes from. We work directly with makers — many of them small family workshops — and we are proud to share their stories. No middlemen, no mystery. Just honest provenance.

Customer First, Always

From the moment you browse to long after your piece arrives, our team is here. We offer free shipping, white-glove support, and a satisfaction promise that stands behind every order — no fine print.

Sustainable Choices

We actively seek out responsibly sourced wood, natural textiles, and recycled materials. We are not perfect, but we are intentional — and we hold every supplier to the same standards we hold ourselves.

Everyday Beauty

Great design should not be a privilege. We work hard to keep our pricing honest and our quality exceptional — because a beautifully crafted home is not a luxury, it's a daily joy everyone deserves.

"Every corner tells a story."
